Gaurav Kapadia is the Co-Founder & Co-Managing Partner of Soroban Capital, a $3 Billion investment firm based in New York. Prior to forming Soroban Capital, Gaurav was a Partner at TPG-Axon Capital, a multi-billion dollar global investment firm. He joined the firm prior to launch in 2004 and in 2007, Gaurav moved to London to assist in building and launching TPG-Axon’s London Office and was involved in all aspects of building out TPG-Axon’s European presence. Gaurav has experience investing in the US, Europe, Asia and Latin America across a wide variety of industries and all parts of the capital structure. Gaurav started his career at the Boston Consulting Group as a strategy consultant. He graduated magna cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a BSC in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Management.
Jay R. Petschek, 54, is the founder and a Principal of Corsair Capital Management LLC, the General Partner of Corsair Capital Partners, LP. Mr. Petschek founded this investment partnership in 1991 at which time he was a Senior Managing Director at Ladenburg Thalmann & Co. Inc., responsible for the firm’s proprietary asset management activities and a member of Ladenburg’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Mr. Petschek joined Ladenburg in 1984, spending ten years in corporate finance and two years as Director of the firm’s Research Department. Prior to joining Ladenburg, Mr. Petschek was an Assistant Treasurer in the World Corporate Department at Bankers Trust Company. Mr. Petschek serves on the Board of Directors of the Boyar Value Fund, an open-ended public mutual fund.
He graduated cum laude from Harvard College in 1980 with a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and received an M.S. in Management from the Sloan School of Management, M.I.T. in 1982.
Kian Ghazi, CFA founded Hawkshaw Capital Management in 2002, where he is the Managing Partner and portfolio manager. Hawkshaw is an equity-long/short investment partnership designed to generate market-beating returns through a concentrated, value-driven, research-intensive approach. The name Hawkshaw is an 1800s term for detective and is meant to underscore the firm’s heavy emphasis on deep-dive, investigative research. The firm seeks investment opportunities where there is a disconnect between near term market expectations and longer term intrinsic value, and where rigorous primary research can yield a superior informational understanding of the business. Prior to co-founding Hawkshaw, Mr. Ghazi was a senior investment professional at Midtown Capital Partners and the business services analyst at Lehman Brothers. He received his MBA from the Wharton School of Business, where he was a Palmer scholar.
